Beginning in 1897, she taught nature study at Cornell University until her retirement as Professor in 1922. Comstock edited the \u003ci\u003eNature-Study Review\u003c\/i\u003e from 1917 to 1923 and both wrote and illustrated several books, including \u003ci\u003eWays of the Six-Footed\u003c\/i\u003e (1903), \u003ci\u003e How to Keep Bees \u003c\/i\u003e(1905), \u003ci\u003eThe Handbook of Nature Study\u003c\/i\u003e (1911), \u003ci\u003eThe Pet Book\u003c\/i\u003e (1914), and \u003ci\u003eTrees at Leisure\u003c\/i\u003e (1916).
