Description
In My Father's House: There Were No Mansions tells the true story about a childhood home that was just a house headed by a father who was a preacher. It was also occupied by his wife and eight children yet somehow, the house was empty. The story is told from the voice of one of the children, a young girl who was molested by her half brother when she was a child. The parents mentality shrouded by religion allowed the tragedy to continue in secrecy as the family lived what appeared to be a normal life in the inner-city. As a result of her parents not dealing with the abuse head on, the author learned to suppress her pain. In fact, she did that so well that her memories were buried deep inside until she became an adult. As an adult, all that she suppressed would cause her to explode in anger without reason.
