Tales of my homeland

Cuentos de mi tierra introduces two fruits from the Caribbean tropics: the almond and the soursop. In the story Almendras, we meet a grandfather who describes to his grandson the characteristics of the almond and what to do, according to custom, to eat the seed of this fruit. In the other story, La guanábana, the reader is invited to discover this fruit through a dream that the protagonist narrates to her mother. The grandmother, a Taino Indian, offers her the fruit. The mother's experience and technology instruct the girl and the readers about the soursop.
