SCOURGES OF OUR TIME. On life and death

Life and death, with their necessary stages and detours, such as suicide, euthanasia, and abortion, are the themes that occupy and concern the Venezuelan jurist and professor Alfonso Rivas Quintero. And a fundamental reason encourages him, pointing to what is connatural to every person and which, in this time unmoored from places and denied in its vertigo at the same time, seems to have been forgotten, namely, the eminent value of the inexcusable good of freedom and the responsibilities it entails. He says, for this reason and forcing us to return to the anthropological path, that "it is possible that the date for the transition to eternity may or may not have been foreseen in God's plan." And he does so to add what is important: "Remember that He also gave us the free will to follow His plan or not and to make our decisions as we deem best, hence we can conclude that God did not limit our freedom to think and act outside of His plan and therefore if we decide to end our existence He will not act by coercing our will."
