In the blink of an eye, we can reach the limits of the universe, become a quark or swim inside a stellar core... Now we are few and weak, like humble fireflies, but we are growing in number like grass in spring. Science fiction fans are the inhabitants of the future."

Cixin Liu is the most prolific and popular science fiction author in the People's Republic of China. Liu has been awarded eight Galaxy Awards (the equivalent in his country of the Hugo Award) and the Chinese Nebula, before turning his "Three-Body Trilogy" into a work capable of selling one million copies in China alone, arousing the unanimous interest of the entire West, winning the 2015 Hugo Award for best novel, and gaining advocates of the stature of Barack Obama and Mark Zuckerberg.
His enormous success is now repeated in all international markets, thanks to genre fans, but also, and above all, to the millions of readers interested in geopolitical news and in China's past and future. It is all of them who have managed to turn a perfect unknown, arriving from the most mysterious and hermetic East, into one of the great literary sensations of recent years.
Before becoming a writer, Liu worked as an engineer at a power plant in the Chinese city of Yangquan, in Shanxi province, now temporarily closed due to air pollution.
